              An ethernet rotary joint based on non-contacting coupling mechanisms like capacitive, inductive, transmission line or transformer coupling doesn’t use sliding contacts for transmitting data from the stator to the rotor. Thus they offer superior product life time over contacting designs since these contactless data interfaces are non-wearing and maintenance-free. Transmission errors and distortions because of micro-interruptions and line reflections are very effectively prevented (bit error rates < 1x10-12), which reduces abnormal data packets and cycle times.

              Contactless ethernet rotary joints offer reliable data transmission in real time. Our approach permits transmission rates of up to 1 Gbit/s in Ethernet-based bus systems (e.g.: Ethernet protocol IEEE 802.3 or EtherCAT), also at very fast rotational speeds (up to 6000 rpm). 100 Mbit/s real-time feature enables transmission of various, deterministic bus protocols. The real-time Ethernet contactless data types are protocol independent (only using OSI-Layer 1) and suitable for nearly all 100BASE-TX based industrial ethernet standards.
